Dani Blue and 'Just Mimi'
Dani and Mimi
"Aren’t they wonderful?" one elated - if possibly related - audience member enthuses. Indeed they are. In Sanctuary's intimate basement, singer/songwriter Dani Blue and comedienne Mimi cannot fail to glitter, and not all the sparkle is the result of audience projection. Dani's sunshiny smile opens proceedings, accompanied, somewhat paradoxically, with a set that ranges from the down to the downright depressing. Ending on a high note, however, the crowd join in with warbling and rapturous applause as she leaves the stage to Mimi, whose peculiar mix of dourly comedic songs and poems are an effective contrast. The pair finish together as a wonderful covers act. Dani's throaty voice is tempered by Mimi’s antics and, in many ways, they're better as a pair, working a beautiful on-stage chemistry. Fun, friendly and involved, I’m just glad someone knew the words to The Wombles!
