Embassy Court Tours
Embassy Court Tours
Part run-down council block, part Cannes seafront apartments, Embassy Court will excite fans of unadorned, minimalist architecture and the hallmarks of 1930s modernism. In this hour-long tour, hear how in its heyday, residents would have had weekend homes here (stopovers before luxury cruises), replete with chauffeurs, concierges, on-site restaurant and laundry service. Later residents lived with extensive refurbishment and legal battles; hard to imagine in the cool, white, smooth building today. The tour is not extensive but enthusiastic, revealing the past but also the present with a snoop around a currently occupied flat included. Linger on the roof terrace (like the deck of a luxury ocean liner) and learn about "Brighton's second most important building (after the Pavilion)".
